How to File Fold Clothing
I’ll admit - I didn’t learn how to file fold from my parents. It isn’t something I started doing until well into adulthood. And at first, it seemed tedious. It takes marginally longer than “traditional” folding so it may seem daunting, but it’s well worth the trouble.
It’s a technique popularized by organizational experts like Marie Kondo, and it offers several benefits. Firstly, it maximizes space in your drawers and closets, making it easier to see and access each item. This method reduces wrinkles, since clothes aren't stacked on top of one another. It also helps maintain the integrity of delicate fabrics. Additionally, file folding allows you to declutter and prioritize items more effectively, promoting a sense of order and calm in your living space. It's an excellent way to streamline your wardrobe, reduce decision fatigue, and ultimately save time when getting dressed.
Use these videos as guides (taught by the OG herself, Marie Kondo), but don’t be a slave to them. You’re going for functionality, not perfection. A crease here or there won’t cause a break down your entire system. Same goes for folding three times instead of 4. This is about making your life easier, not harder, so make it your own.
